ZMODEM was faster than Kermit, all variants of XMODEM and YMODEM, (but slower than YMODEM-G) and you could restart an interrupted download from a BBS. It was great for those huge 20K files!
[PLH] I still use zmodem to transfer files over ssh connection. SecureCRT? supports zmodem transfer and there is a patched version of putty (Le Putty) that does too. It's more convenient than scp because I'm already in the directory where I want to send/receive a file.
