Then getting the new roll of film, putting that in the bottom of the camera. You'd have to manually insert the top of the film in the top-roller. The manual crank on the side of the camera drives the top-roller.
A magical “stop here” mark had to be carefully adjusted to a mark in the inside of the camera. Then you shut the camera, and turn crank until it automagically stops.
