Knowledge Assumed The ability to quickly type IDDQD, IDKFA and IDSPISPOPD without making an error while being pummeled by various daemons
When useful If you happen to crack open an old copy of DOOM II and fire it up on your Linux box, this could still be useful

In the 1994 release of Doom II, you could enter “god mode” by typing iddqd quickly on the keyboard during normal game play. This code switches the user into a mode that did not take damage when attacked. The code is especially handy when you want to slaughter a demon using only your pistol and very little skill.

The code idkfa replenishes all health, weapons and inventory. This is useful when you just can't get enough of the BFG sound effects.

Additionally, the code idspipopd is available during normal game play. This code allows the player to walk through walls and even off of the map. Walking off of the map produced trippy visual effects as the game tried to figure out what it should be rendering. This code was best used when you just wanted to get to slaughtering a room full of demons without stomping through all the mazes on a level you've played 6000 times.

In the later versions of Doom, the idspispopd was replaced with idnoclip

idspispopd stands for id smashing pumpkins into small piles of putrid debris
