Burning And Erasing EPRO Ms

The basic steps for many PROM burners:
- Take the tape off of the destination EPROM window.
- Put the EPROM into the chamber with the UV light.
- Let it cook about 45 minutes to erase the contents.
- Put the source EPROM into the Prom burner and copy the contents to memory. Alternately, you can download the ROM from an IBM DOS PC using an RS-232 cable. Note the checksum.
- Put the destination EPROM in the Prom burner.
- Write the memory contents to the chip.
- Read the contents of the newly burned EPROM and make sure the checksum matches that of the source.
- Record the program and version on a sticker and place over the round window on the newly burned Prom.
Note: This is still practiced in many organisations and industries with slow technology turnover (such as transport systems and some manufacturing plants)
